The announcement of withdrawal marks the ending of Wuhan Yangtze's 14-year stint in Chinese league. The club was founded in 2009 as Hubei Lyuyin. It was taken over by Zall, a property developer, in 2011. They won the promotion to CSL twice in 2014 and 2018 respectively.
